My girl is very impulsive, has slight anger management issues and talks alot. She is 8yrs old now and doesnt stop talking. Do you think she might be suffering from ADHD?

To be diagnosed with Attention Deficient Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), a child will display symptoms of one of the three types of ADHD. The symptoms for each type include (taken from http://www.webmd.com/add-adhd/guide/types-of-adhd) Inattentive type (child must display six out of nine symptoms) - Not paying attention to detail - Making careless mistakes - Failing to pay attention and keep on task - Not listening - Being unable to follow or understand instructions - Avoiding tasks that involve effort - Being distracted - Being forgetful - Losing things that are needed to complete tasks Hyperactive-impulsive type (child must display six out of nine symptoms) - Fidgeting - Squirming - Getting up often when seated - Running or climbing at inappropriate times - Having trouble playing quietly - Talking too much - Talking out of turn or blurting out - Interrupting - Often “on the go” as if “driven by a motor” Combined type (Shows symptoms of both inattentive and hyperactive-impulsive types) In general, the key point to note in trying to figure out if a child has ADHD is whether or not he/she suffers any impairment in their ability to inhibit and control impulses, which often affects his/her learning or function. For example, a child with ADHD finds it difficult to process information. He/she is unable to “slow down” to take in the information. This poses as an issue in the classroom since children are expected to make sense of the information within a short period of time. Another common problem a child with ADHD faces is a struggle with execution functions such as organizing, planning, prioritizing, paying attention to and remembering details. A child with ADHD often also becomes easily overwhelmed and frustrated, and has trouble regulating their emotions. If you suspect your child of having ADHD, consult a doctor or psychologist or psychiatrist for a formal evaluation. But based on your description, you daughter sounds like a normal child so there's no need to worry. :) For more information, you can refer to this article: http://add.about.com/od/adhdthebasics/f/How-Do-You-Tell-The-Difference-Between-An-Energetic-Child-And-One-With-Adhd.htm P/s: apologies for the long reply!
Read moreI think this can be categorised as a normal behaviour among the kids this age. You can try diverting her attention if she gets angry and try resolving at your level first. If you think she is not responding to any of the things you are trying then you can seek professional expert. We generally put taboo consulting psychologist, which I think shouldn't be there. There was a kid in my daughter's class who behaved the similar way as you have mentioned. Firstly, his mother tried managing the kid on her own but later when she could not, since he was hyper-active as well, she put him in the day-care even though she was stay-at-home-mom. She thought being with kids and under the supervision of trained teachers in day-care he would behave. But when there was no change in how the kid behaved, the parents consulted a child psychologist. The psychologist told that he had Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. It was not anything to worry about. I know the kid, he was smart, agile and competitive. Just that his mother had complained him of being fidgety, little aggressive and short attention span. http://www.healthline.com/health/adhd/signs#LookingForward9
Read moreHonestly, I think your daughter is acting like most kids her age. Unless her actions are daily occurrences that affect her social life and academic life, I doubt that it's ADHD. This article below talks about some signs you can look out for, in terms of detecting ADHD in your child: http://www.healthline.com/health/adhd/signs#Dreamer8
