Is 3 years old good enough to get into sports like football?

If you're planning to enrol your child in a kid's football club/league or classes, then maybe 3 years old is a wee bit too early cos such places usually take in kids at an older age (5 and above I think). But introducing sports at home is perfectly fine. My dad introduced me and my brothers to football when we were really young. He taught us football basics like kicking, dribbling and goalkeeping. He also bought us matching football jerseys and took us to football matches at the old National Stadium. Only my younger brother continues to play football till today but I am still a fan of watching sports, which I believe stemmed from my early childhood exposure to sports. Sports also teaches qualities like teamwork, competitiveness and discipline -- all good things to learn.

AN expert physiologist find it too early for that kid's age: http://www.parenting.com/article/toddler-sports I think it doesn't matter what sports will it be or it will be sport-specific that you will get your kid involved to as long as you supervise her all the time. And also, getting her move freely and having fun play and safe that's all that counts. Afterall, depriving a child's play will have an adverse effect on her self-esteem and motor skills development.

I think 3 years old is a good age to let your child know about sport more than swimming. My daughter is 3 years old and now we start to practice her about ball and movement so that it will be easy for her to learn tennis when she is bit older. You will also learn what kind of sport does your child like as well.

Yes, why not? But maybe not competitive soccer - let your child just kick around and get the hang of it first. Play with her, let her be the goalkeeper and learn to do defend/block. It's a great game for the family to play together!

Thanks Idza! I'm basically a sports fanatic and was a semi-pro American Footballer. Since my daughter can't play American Football, I'm planning to introduce soccer / football to her. I'm just too excited for it. Thanks!

I've been trying to get my kids into football since they were toddlers! At that age maybe they won't pick up the skills yet but it's a good experience to teach them to love the sport

Thanks for inputs! I've decided to enrol my daughter in a soccer camp. I just want to have some proud daddy moments on the bleachers cheering for her and her team!

Can we know where? We are looking for a soccer camp for our daughter since her daddy is a football fanatic.

Yes it’s generally should be fine for most babies. Still if not sure, try slow and safe
