Independent sleep

My baby is almost 7 months now. Was able to go to sleep drowsy but awake between 4-5 months, then 5-6 months needed to be held to sleep but will sleep through the night However, now drowsy but awake no longer works, even when he is very sleepy, the moment I put him down he will roll onto belly and want to play 😂 And have also been waking up 1/2 times at night screaming and unable to self soothe. Need to hold to sleep and transfer Anyone experience this? What did you do?
